The Richard A. Keplinger Scholarship at Shepherd University was established in 2005 in memory of Richard Keplinger (Shepherd College Graduate 2001). The Richard A. Keplinger Scholarship at Shepherd University was established in 2005 in memory of Richard Keplinger (Shepherd College Graduate 2001).
Richard was killed in a tragic accident in 2004. While working on a tree that was damaged in a storm, a branch broke free and struck Richard. He left behind more than friends who miss him - he left behind a fiance, and a family who loved him dearly.
His mother, Nancy, and his grandmother, Katherine M. Cyr, endowed the scholarship. Richard’s fraternity - Delta Sigma Pi - will be involved in the selection process. The scholarship is made available to all students majoring in Business, Accounting, Economics and Computer Information Sciences.
