I have collaborated with people from other countries in many ways - using only the web!  In one position I held it was my responsilibity to trade mailing lists with international clients.  People spread all over the world relied on my understanding of direct mail lists and their ability to sway consumer decision that they turned to me to find the best list targeting their international market.
